The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office moved into it's current location on April 19, 2002. This two-story, concrete block structure is over 60,000 square feet and houses the Sheriff's Administrative staff, Investigations Bureau, Civil Bureau, Central Information Bureau, Dispatch Bureau, the Crime Scene Investigation Laboratory and is where the majority of Patrol staff work. Employees have access to numerous computer workstations, and several large conference rooms are available for training and meetings.

The Guerneville Substation (sometimes referred to as the River Substation) is the base for patrol services provided in the western portion of Sonoma County. This area includes the entire 63 miles of coastline to the west and to Forestville in the east.

The Substation is staffed with two Sergeants, sixteen Deputy Sheriffs, three Resident Deputy Sheriffs (who live on the coast in their respective beats) and one Community Services Officer. Resident Deputies live on the coast in the communities of Bodega Bay, Timber Cove, and Gualala Point.

The Sonoma Valley Substation is located in the heart of the Valley of the Moon. From the Substation in Boyes Hot Springs, patrol services are provided from the Napa County line to the east, to the mountain ridge between Petaluma and Sonoma to the west, Glen Ellen to the north, and to the San Pablo Bay to the south. The Substation is staffed with two Sergeants, sixteen Deputy Sheriffs and one Community Services Officer.
